Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities ..

towards an inclusive and just society.

“Persons with disabilities are an integral part of our society, and their dignity and rights must be protected and upheld. In Sudan, amid war and conflict, their challenges increase, yet they deserve equal opportunities in education, work, and civic participation. Let us work together to remove barriers, empower them to live with freedom and dignity, and build an inclusive society where every individual can reach their full potential without discrimination or obstacles.”

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed on December 3 each year. The Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy marks this occasion to raise awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities and highlight the challenges they face in Sudan, particularly under conditions of war and conflict, which have increased their suffering and deepened the obstacles to their full integration into society.

The Center emphasizes that persons with disabilities should be recognized as individuals with equal rights and responsibilities, rather than as a group isolated or placed in special institutions away from the community. This year’s observance highlights the importance of removing physical and social barriers in Sudan, ensuring equitable access to education, work, and public services, and providing the necessary support for full inclusion, especially for those most affected by the war.

The Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy calls on Sudanese authorities, civil society, and international institutions to intensify efforts to ensure that persons with disabilities actively participate in all areas of life, and that society provides environments that respect their freedom, dignity, and potential.

Let us work together for an inclusive Sudan that ensures opportunities for all and celebrates the abilities of every individual, without exception, even under the most difficult circumstances.
