Sudanese Refugees in Uganda Share Harrowing Testimonies with UN Fact-Finding Mission

Dozens of men, women, and children who fled the war in Sudan have shared their testimonies with United Nations human rights experts, documenting the tragic conditions faced by civilians amid the ongoing conflict.

During their visit to Kiryandongo settlement in Uganda, which hosts over 50,000 refugees, the experts met around 200 people from across Sudan and heard accounts of relentless shelling, looting, sexual violence, and the severe suffering endured by women and children in particular.

The experts emphasized that women and children are not only the main victims of the conflict but also hold the key to a peaceful and dignified future for all Sudanese. They called on the international community to support refugees, ensuring access to basic needs including food, healthcare, and education, and enabling them to live with dignity.
