Launch of the Campaign “Testify for Justice in Sudan” .. For Truth and Ending Impunity

“Every testimony is an act of resistance, and every voice heard is a step toward justice and accountability .. Victims and survivors who share their experiences lay the foundation to confront impunity and give hope to those whose voices have been silenced. Justice begins with the courage to speak the truth, and documenting violations is not merely recounting the past-it is a call to the world to stand for rights and build lasting peace.”

From 24 to 30 June 2025

In light of the escalating violations and the absence of justice in Sudan since the outbreak of war on 15 April 2023, the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy, in partnership with the Leadership Office of the Sudanese Refugee Community in Uganda, announces the launch of the campaign “Testify for Justice in Sudan”, which will run from 24 to 30 June 2025.

This humanitarian campaign aims to raise public awareness about justice and accountability, and to encourage victims, survivors, and witnesses to document violations and make their voices heard by the world.

The campaign seeks to urge victims, survivors, witnesses, human rights organizations, and civil society to submit reports on violations and war crimes in Sudan to the United Nations Independent Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan, in order to end the culture of impunity and ensure accountability for perpetrators from all parties to the conflict.

Launched at a time when evidence of grave violations continues to mount, the campaign seeks to break the silence surrounding the Sudanese tragedy and shed light once again on the stories and suffering of civilians who have faced multiple forms of violence – from killings, sexual violence, and ethnically targeted attacks, to indiscriminate bombings, child recruitment, arbitrary detention, ill-treatment, looting, obstruction of humanitarian aid, and attacks on journalists and humanitarian workers.

The campaign calls on all Sudanese inside and outside the country, especially refugees, as well as all those who have experienced or witnessed these crimes, to submit their testimonies and reports to the United Nations Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan before 30 June 2025, via the official email: submissions-ffmsudan@un.org

This is the official channel designated for submission of reports. In case of technical challenges, individuals may also contact the Mission directly via: ffmsudan@un.org

The organizers affirm that testimony is not merely a retelling of past events, but an act of resistance against injustice, and a crucial step toward justice, accountability, and lasting peace.

Mohammed Abdallah, CEO of the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy, stated: “We launched this campaign because we believe that justice begins with testimony, and that every voice of a victim or survivor is part of the truth that must be told. There can be no peace without justice, and no justice without documentation and responsibility.”

Engineer Hussein Taiman, Head of the Leadership Office of the Sudanese Refugee Community in Uganda, called on refugees in Uganda and neighboring countries to actively participate in the campaign and share their testimonies, emphasizing that justice is not a political privilege but a human right, and a prerequisite for building a safe future free from violence and impunity.

“Your testimony is not just words – it is a promise of truth, a key to justice, and a voice for those who have none.”
