Appeal to Extend the Deadline for Submissions .. Do Not Close the Window of Justice for Sudanese Conflict Victims
“Every testimony is a ray of light in the darkness of injustice, and every voice heard lays a stone in the foundation of justice. Victims and survivors who raise their voices protect the truth and break the cycle of impunity. Do not let your silence close the window of hope; contribute to documenting violations so that your testimony becomes a step toward holding perpetrators accountable and ensuring a future filled with security and dignity for all Sudanese.”
30 June 2025, Port Sudan – Kampala – Geneva – Nairobi
With the deadline approaching for submitting testimonies and reports to the United Nations Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan, the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy and the Leadership Office of the Sudanese Refugee Community in Uganda express deep concern over the short timeframe, given the displacement of millions, the collapse of justice institutions, and the difficulty for victims and witnesses to access documentation platforms.
The organizations call on the international community, especially the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, to extend the deadline, allowing victims inside Sudan and in the diaspora to document the violations and crimes they have endured, ensure accountability for perpetrators, and prevent crimes from being lost in silence.
