In a step that reflects its deep commitment to human rights and peace, the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy (NCPD), together with a coalition of more than 45 national, regional, and international organizations, has signed a joint statement in support of the Geneva Peace Talks on Sudan.
This statement comes at a time when millions of Sudanese continue to suffer from the ongoing conflict, with half the population facing acute food insecurity and countless displaced persons enduring catastrophic conditions that threaten their very survival.
The statement emphasizes the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the opening of humanitarian corridors to deliver life-saving aid, the protection of civilians, and the launch of an inclusive and genuine dialogue among the warring parties to reach a sustainable political solution. It further welcomes the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy, Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, to convene indirect negotiations between the parties since July 10 in Geneva, while underscoring the necessity of full and responsible participation by all stakeholders.
By signing this statement, the NCPD affirms its strong support for ongoing humanitarian and political efforts to end the crisis and safeguard the lives of millions of innocent civilians in Sudan.
