“At the United Nations Palace in Geneva, the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy participated in a side event organized by Maat for Peace, highlighting the suffering of civilians in Sudan after more than 900 days of war. The Center called for an end to military support, the lifting of the siege on civilians, ensuring humanitarian aid reaches those in need, and holding those responsible for violations accountable”.

The Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy took part in the side event organized by Maat for Peace, titled “Human Rights in Sudan,” held at the United Nations Palace in Geneva on the sidelines of the 60th session of the Human Rights Council.

The event shed light on the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan after more than 900 days of conflict, marked by systematic violations against civilians, including mass killings, sexual violence, child recruitment, destruction of infrastructure, and looting of property. The siege of Al-Fasher city has resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis, characterized by shortages of food, medicine, and clean drinking water.

Speakers concluded the event with a set of recommendations directed at the Human Rights Council and the international community, emphasizing the need to halt military funding and supplies to conflict parties, open safe corridors for delivering humanitarian assistance, lift the siege on civilians, and hold all parties responsible for violations accountable, ensuring the protection of human rights and a dignified life for affected populations.
