A painful obituary..

With hearts overwhelmed by pain, the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy mourns, with deep sadness and sorrow, the profound tragedy of losing the distinguished national and human figure, Dr. Al-Baqer Afif Mokhtar, who passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, in the United States after a long and painful battle with illness. His departure has broken hearts and brought tears to countless souls.
The loss of Dr. Al-Baqer Afif is not merely the departure of an individual, but the extinguishing of a radiant flame that illuminated the paths of freedom, justice, and peace in our homeland. He was an extraordinary man who carried the burdens of his nation on his shoulders and sacrificed his comfort and well-being for the dignity and rights of humanity. Truly, he was pure of heart and noble in deeds, armed with knowledge and wisdom, and a steadfast defender of human rights and dignity, standing tall with unwavering principles that never faltered in the face of any storm.
Though Dr. Al-Baqer has departed, the wound of his absence will continue to ache in our hearts. He was a truthful voice in an age riddled with falsehood, a beacon of resistance against oppression and tyranny, a figure draped in honesty and integrity, and a source of hope for a nation wearied by trials and tribulations.
We lift our hands in prayer, asking the Almighty to have mercy on this noble soul, to reward him generously for his dedication and sacrifices, and to pour patience and solace upon the hearts of his family and loved ones in this moment of profound loss.
Peace be upon you, O man of a great heart. Peace upon your soul, which will remain eternal in our hearts forever.
Verily, we belong to God, and to Him we shall return.
