Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy joined a number of international and regional human rights organizations in a joint statement calling on the United Nations Human Rights Council to extend the mandate of the independent international fact-finding mission on Sudan for an additional two years.
The statement emphasized that protecting the rights of victims, preserving evidence, and holding those responsible for serious crimes accountable are humanitarian and moral imperatives before they are legal obligations. A just peace cannot be built on silence or forgetfulness, but rather on acknowledging the suffering and holding those who caused it accountable.
The signatories noted that millions of displaced persons, refugees, and victims in Sudan await a clear message from the international community that justice is not a postponed option, but rather a prerequisite for ending the war and building a more secure and dignified future for all Sudanese.
