16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Israa Abdelmagid says:

“Every day, millions of women and girls suffer from violence. We will not be silent anymore!

The voices of survivors are our voices. We demand a safe and equal world for every woman and girl.

Together, we can end violence and build communities of dignity and hope.”

“Every single day, across the world, millions of women and girls are subjected to violence-in their homes, on the streets, in schools, workplaces, and even in places where they should feel safe. This violence is not only physical; it is also psychological, sexual, and economic. It strips women and girls of their dignity, limits their opportunities, and denies them the most basic right: to live in safety, freedom, and dignity.

For too long, the stories of survivors have been silenced, denied, or met with indifference. But silence is no longer an option. The voices of survivors are our voices. Their pain must be heard, their resilience honored, and their rights fully protected.

Ending violence against women and girls is not just a women’s issue-it is a human rights and social justice imperative. We must challenge harmful norms, strengthen laws, demand accountability, and ensure survivors have access to justice, protection, and comprehensive support.

I believe in a world where no woman lives in fear, where every girl can dream and achieve without discrimination, and where equality is not an aspiration but a reality.

Together, let us stand with survivors, break the silence, and build safe communities for every woman and girl.”
