Norwegian Special Envoy Engages Sudanese Civil Society in Kampala
During his visit to Kampala, H.E. Ambassador Anton John Jonsson, Norwegian Special Envoy to Sudan and South Sudan, met with a wide range of Sudanese civil society organizations, women and youth networks, and political leaders. The meetings were coordinated by the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy and took place at AFORD headquarters.
Participants discussed urgent steps to end the war in Sudan, address the humanitarian crisis affecting millions of displaced Sudanese, and support refugees in neighboring countries. Ambassador Jonsson reaffirmed Norway’s commitment to the Sudanese people and encouraged civil society to unite their efforts to influence the parties to the conflict toward peace.
Representatives of Sudanese organizations expressed deep gratitude to Norway for its solidarity and highlighted the vital role of civil society in advocating for peace and humanitarian assistance.
