Salwan Salah: 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Salwan Salah Ibrahim says:

“I believe that a future free from violence is possible. But it will only be achieved if we act together, with courage and commitment, to guarantee that every woman and girl lives in safety, equality, and dignity.”

“Through the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, I emphasize the urgent need to confront all forms of violence that women and girls continue to face—domestic violence, harassment, forced and child marriage, and female genital mutilation. These acts are not only violations of dignity; they are grave human rights abuses that hinder equality, justice, and peace in our societies.

Together, we must unite to protect women’s rights and ensure justice for survivors. Justice must mean more than words-it must translate into strong laws, accountability for perpetrators, and comprehensive services that enable survivors to recover and rebuild their lives.

Raising awareness is not enough unless it leads to action. This campaign is a reminder that each of us-governments, communities, and individuals-has a responsibility to stand with survivors, challenge harmful practices, and create safe spaces for women and girls.

I believe that a future free from violence is possible. But it will only be achieved if we act together, with courage and commitment, to guarantee that every woman and girl lives in safety, equality, and dignity.”
