Statement: Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy Welcomes and Commends the Report of the Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan.
“The Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy warmly welcomes the historic report of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan, a courageous testimony to the suffering of our people, and calls for providing the necessary resources and full support to the Mission to ensure continued documentation of violations and preservation of evidence.”
Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy (NCPD) warmly welcomes the historic report issued by the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan and presented to the 60th session of the Human Rights Council. This report stands as a living testimony to the suffering of our people, courageously documenting the scale of atrocities and violations committed against civilians across Sudan.
We commend the tireless and courageous efforts of the Mission’s experts in documenting these crimes. This report is not merely a legal document; it is a cry of conscience against mass killings, rape, forced displacement, and the deliberate starvation of civilians. It reflects the tears of mothers, the cries of children, and the anguish of communities whose lives have been shattered by war.
The Nubian Center affirms that this report represents a vital step toward justice and accountability, opening the door for the international community to put an end to the entrenched impunity that has fueled cycles of violence for decades. It is also a stark reminder that addressing the suffering of victims and supporting survivors is an urgent moral and humanitarian obligation.
Accordingly, we declare the following:
- Our full and unwavering support for the Fact-Finding Mission, and our call for its mandate to be renewed and expanded, with all necessary resources provided to ensure the continued documentation of violations and the preservation of evidence.
- Our full endorsement of the report’s recommendations, and our call on the Human Rights Council and the UN Security Council to translate these recommendations into concrete and immediate measures to halt the bloodshed and protect civilians.
- Our urgent call on the international community to take immediate action to impose a comprehensive arms embargo, cut off the financing of the war machine, and support the International Criminal Court in holding accountable all those whose hands are stained with the blood of Sudanese civilians.
- Our firm conviction that no future peace will be viable unless it is grounded in justice, redress, and the rights of victims. The blood of the innocent cannot be traded for fragile political deals.
The Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy urges the Human Rights Council, the United Nations, and the African Union to build upon this report through decisive action that ensures the protection of civilians and the prosecution of all perpetrators of crimes, without distinction or selectivity.
We reaffirm our commitment to work alongside Sudanese, regional, and international civil society partners to transform this report into a tool for justice and a catalyst for guiding Sudan toward peace, freedom, and human dignity.
