Nubian Center Commends the Renewal of the Sudan Fact-Finding Mission Mandate and Affirms that the Trial of “Kushayb” Is a Preliminary Step, with Justice Achievable Only by Holding All Perpetrators Accountable
“The Nubian Center welcomes the renewal of Sudan’s Fact-Finding Mission, a beacon of hope for victims and humanity itself .. The trial of Ali Kushayb marks only the first step; true justice demands that all perpetrators be held accountable, ensuring dignity, protection, and the restoration of trust for the Sudanese people.”

The Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy welcomed the adoption of UN Human Rights Council Resolution A/HRC/60/L.18 renewing the mandate of the Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan, describing it as a victory for the victims’ will and the unyielding voice of humanity, and a key step toward holding all perpetrators of serious crimes against civilians accountable.
Dr. Mohammed Saleh Mohammed Yassin, Chair of the Nubian Center and participant in the Council sessions in Geneva, said: “Voting in favor of this resolution is a vote for humanity-against famine, against mass rape, and against ethnic cleansing. Every state that abstained is complicit in silence, and every ‘No’ stands on the side of injustice. We call on all countries to stand with the Sudanese people, not the warlords.”
He added: “While renewing the Fact-Finding Mission’s mandate is the core of this resolution, it also calls for an urgent humanitarian ceasefire and unhindered delivery of aid. What happened in Geneva is a defining moment in the conscience of the world-a test of international humanity and a clear message that Sudan will not be left alone against the machinery of war and oppression.”
The Center noted that the Fact-Finding Mission continues to receive reports and testimonies from victims and civil society organizations via submissions-ffmsudan@un.org, affirming the Center’s commitment to facilitating access to ensure justice and accountability.
The Center also praised the trial of Ali Kushayb before the International Criminal Court, emphasizing that this is only the beginning in a long process to hold a broad system of criminals accountable, including Omar al-Bashir, Ahmed Haroun, and Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein, and called for a national registry to document all violations, protect witnesses, and ensure fair compensation for victims.
